Disabilities should never be a hindrance for an individual to achieve what they want the most out of life. That is why a proper method of treatment and a reliable network of supports is essential for the participants to fulfill their personal goals. However, for individuals undergoing mental health issues, one of the more daunting aspects of recovery is starting therapy and finding the right counsellor, who are comfortable to work with and who can tailor their services as per the needs, can be a tough step.

Fortunately, Positive Moods understands this challenge, especially for the people they serve in Perth. Therefore, with the help of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Counsellor Perth, Positive Moods can provide participants with the top counsellors to assist them with their mental health needs. NDIS Counsellor Perth offers a wide array of services that are directed to the holistic improvement of the participant. They put their participant’s comfort at the top of their priority, so that they may feel safe and cared for as they go about counselling.

About Us

At Positive Moods, residents of Perth can find NDIS-registered counsellors and psychologists, who can support health issues such as mental illnesses, brain injuries, impaired capacities, intellectual disabilities and other medical challenges related to mental well-being. Positive Moods combines high-quality service with genuine care with the goal to help participants receive the best possible treatment, while feeling safe, comfortable and empowered.

To address this goal, we offer in-home mental health services that are approved by NDIS. Through this service, participants will no longer need to worry about travelling and will be able to benefit from therapy sessions regularly in an environment that is familiar and relaxing to them.

Apart from in-home services, we can also connect them with their partners to provide housing facilities across Perth and Western Australia. This enables psychologists and counsellors to get in touch with the participant’s support networks while facilitating recovery.

Overall, the services offered by Positive Moods are centred on the holistic growth of the participant. This means that the treatment they undergo is according to the short and long term goals they hope to achieve. Moreover, the services also allow the participant to engage economically and socially in their community. With the high-quality treatment provided by NDIS, our participants are sure to be protected from neglect and will instead be given full attention for their specific needs.

Understanding Therapeutic and Behaviour Supports

As part of their services, Positive Moods offer different types of therapeutic and behavioural support for their participants. These supports are tailored to answer an individual’s mental health challenges that affect life transitions, daily living, community engagement and social participation.

Therapeutic Supports

Therapeutic Supports are counselling sessions offered by Positive Moods therapists to assist participants with their emotional and mental challenges. These therapeutic supports come in four types:

Individual Counselling

Under this support, a Positive Moods counsellor will work one-on-one with an NDIS participant to talk through their problems. Every session will be structured according to what the participant seeks to achieve during and after their treatment. It is the counsellor’s duty to help the participant achieve emotional growth and mental acceptance. To accomplish this, counsellors provide educational resources that can serve as tools for self-awareness and teach participants the necessary skills to help them cope with their challenges.

Group Counselling

For this service, counselling is done in a small group setting, consisting of a maximum of three participants. Peer discussion sessions for each group will be facilitated by a psychologist or counsellor. During the Group Counselling, participants can express their personal goals and, at the same time, set new goals that they want to achieve as a group.

Group counselling can be extremely beneficial to participants because they will be surrounded by peers whom they can draw support from. Together, they can exchange insights, share significant stories and connect with each other's experiences. As they build friendships, participants can also learn from one another, helping them gain a wider perspective on life.

Group counselling can also build the participant’s skills in communication and in teamwork. Knowing these skills can help them participate actively in the community, engage more in social activities and even find a suitable job that they enjoy.

Group Therapy

In Group Therapy, individual participants will receive help through a collaborative effort of various mental health professionals. These professionals are a team built from Positive Moods and NDIS providers. For each session, a participant can work with psychologists, rehabilitation counsellors, occupational therapists, social workers and art therapists. Through the simultaneous and collaborative contribution of the team, the participant can maximise the services available to them which can improve different aspects of their lives.

Community Engagement Assistance

To enhance the participant’s relationship and engagement with their community, Community Engagement Assistance offers group sessions conducted with several NDIS clients. Through this service, participants can strengthen their support networks and build skills for social interactions.

Behaviour Supports

Behaviour supports are evidence-based approaches that are mainly targeted to prevent and change challenging behaviours. These come in three types:

Specialist Behaviour Intervention Support

To address the NDIS participant’s harmful and dangerous behaviour(s), our psychologists can provide an intensive support intervention that is highly specialised according to the participant’s condition(s).

Behaviour Management Plan

Under this plan, psychologists from Positive Moods team up with relevant stakeholders and the participant’s caretakers. This collaborative effort is directed at building a behaviour support plan customised for the participant’s needs. This plan may include restrictive practices, only if necessary, and with the intention of gradually minimising the use of such practices.

Training in Behaviour Management

This service complements the Behaviour Management Plan. Under this training, our psychologists reach out to stakeholders and provide them with sessions to discuss strategies to address and manage existing behaviours.
