Improve Daily Living

This will mean different things for different individuals.

It can mean that we provide support for you to build your personal and domestic skills as we assist you to meet your goals. These goals can be things like health and well-being or independence and skills building. We will achieve these through therapies, assessments, training and skills development.

The NDIS is designed around participants being involved and having a say in what they want their plan to help them achieve. Before approving the plan, the NDIS considers the report you supply and the information provided during your planning conversations.

NDIS participant’s goals

Every individual has different goals and aspirations and we tailor our therapy to best support these goals. Some goals we have assisted with in the past are:

  • Increasing community and social participation

  • Attending holiday to visit a family member

  • Going camping

  • Better prompting and support of daily care needs such as showering

  • Improving communication skills

Your NDIS team member (Support Coordinator) can help you to liaise with providers such as Positive Moods to:

  • Advise about your approved NDIS plan and funding

  • Advise of any changes to the supports we are providing for you.

NDIS approved support funding

For a support to be funded, it needs to be deemed reasonable, necessary and linked to an outcome identified in the NDIS participant’s plan. Funding is approved for a support if it:

  • Is related to the participant’s disability;

  • Represents value for money;

  • Is likely to be effective and beneficial to the participant; and

  • Takes into account informal supports given to participants by families, carers, networks and the community.

How to use your funding

Funds for counselling services fall under the “ Capacity Building Improve Daily Living” funding in your budget. This covers several services which means you can choose how to spend this funding to meet your support needs. Funding received through the NDIS must be used directly for your support needs. Rebates or reimbursements from another government department or private health insurance agency cannot be claimed for purchases using NDIS funding.

For clarification on what supports and services fall under what funding category, check with your support coordinator or NDIS representative.
